Position: Family Teacher
Job Type: Full-time/Exempt
Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Sociology, Psychology, Special Education, similar field or Home Manager Certification Preferred.
- High School diploma or equivalency required.
- One – Two (1-2) years of prior experience in a position of similar scope, preferred.
- Ability to lift at least one-fourth of own body weight unassisted and ability to perform unassisted transfers of disabled adults with adaptive equipment (lift belts, Hoyer lifts, etc.).
- Knowledge of Teaching Family Model components and techniques preferred.
- The ability to handle all aspects of personal care with sensitivity and caring.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Operation of a motor vehicle for approximately 10% of working time is required which includes proof of a valid drivers license and an ability to qualify as a driver under WTFS insurance guidelines.
- Completion of WTFS and DMRS training curriculum within specified time frame.
Responsibilities
- Teaching service recipients with developmental disabilities activities of daily living
- Developing and implementing life skill plans and tracking service recipients’ progress toward their goals
- Implementing behavior management techniques to decrease service recipients’ inappropriate behaviors
- Supervising service recipients’ health care and ensuring that all health care needs are met
- Completing and reviewing documentation to meet requirements of various governing entities
- Developing active treatment plans for service recipients in their homes and in the community
- Ensuring all cooking and cleaning duties are completed
- Executing various financial duties such as, complying with monthly household budgets, and tracking receipts
- Completing general household management such as grocery shopping, and maintaining a good home appearance
- Ensuring that home is in compliance will all health and safety regulations
- Supervision of teaching counselors working in home
- Staffing home according to company requirements
- Ensuring that staff in home are trained in all required areas
- Completing other administrative duties as needed
